Private Dog Training
Private training allows me to focus all my attention on you and your needs. This is a great choice for people with unpredictable schedules who are unable to attend a group class or dogs with special needs. If your dog is overly aroused by other dogs or outside settings it is best to start with private training with a goal of working towards group classes. While private training is more expensive than group classes I can cover more in each session than I can in a group class. During your sessions I teach you how to train your dog by working with your dog and showing you how to do what I do as well as coaching you to succeed. In addition to the time I work with your dog, you will be working with them during and between sessions. Follow up support via email and text are included at no extra cost.
Your first evaluation visit is an hour and a half. This allows me to talk with you and get a thorough background. We will discuss issues or problems you are experiencing as well as your goals for training.
Follow up training sessions are an hour long and available at your home location, my training studio, or a public park if your dog is ready for additional training distractions.
In addition to my hourly rate I also charge a trip charge based on mileage. The center point to calculate mileage is 80th & Sheridan in Westminster. Travel to sessions within 10 miles of Sheridan and 80th in Westminster is FREE. Training sessions held outside of this radius will incur a trip charge based on mileage. If my drive time is longer than 30 minutes, regardless of mileage, you may incur additional trip fee charges. This is determined on a case by case basis.
If you live further than 25 miles you will need to come to my location or meet me at a park within my travel area.
If you meet me at my training studio, or a park inside my free travel area you will not have a trip charge.
Private lessons can address many needs:
· Basic dog training (sit, stay, down, come, leash walking, wait, leave it, etc.)
· Reactivity while on leash (people, other dogs)
· Boundary training (no dashing out the door or gates)
· Handling for grooming (brushing, clipping nails etc)
· Recognizing body language
· Fears or phobias (places, people, noises, other dogs)
· Destructive behaviors
· Resource guarding (mild)
· New puppy prep/puppy fundamentals
· Crate training
· Clicker training and tricks
Dog training is not a part time job or hobby for me. It is my sole means of support. That means that every hour I work must be maximized and valued. When you schedule with me I am reserving that time specifically for you. Therefore payment is due at time of booking. Cancellations with more than 7 days notice will be refunded at 100%. Cancellations within 3-7 days will be refunded at 50%. Cancellations with less than 3 days notice or no shows will not receive a refund.
Puppy Prep Visits
Is there a new puppy in your life? Or are you planning to get one? When is the last time you have had a puppy? It's quite common to forget all the challenges puppies bring, especially when it's been a long while. Start your puppy (and you) off on the right foot by scheduling a private puppy prep visit. This is a MUST for people who have never had a puppy before or for people with a schedule that prevents them from attending my Off Leash Puppy 1 Class. The foundation you lay now is a huge contributing factor to how your adult dog sees the world.
We discuss common challenges like puppy biting, chewing, crate training and house training as well as socialization (what it is and what it isn't) and puppy training. This 90 minute visit takes place at your home (trip charge additional) and covers all the "must do" things for your new dog.
